volunteering at New Highway

Volunteering changes people’s lives

The reasons why people volunteer are as varied and numerous as the wide range of opportunities available. At New Highway we are very aware that all our volunteers could choose to offer their valuable time elsewhere therefore we strive to make their volunteering experience as interesting and rewarding as possible.

Some of the reasons why people choose to volunteer for New Highway:

  • To make friends
  • To gain skills and training
  • To gain work experience
  • To build self-esteem and self-confidence
  • To make a difference in someone’s life.

The benefits to New Highway are clear, especially when well trained volunteers allow us to deliver additional services to our clients which we could not afford to fund in any other way. New volunteers add life and a new energy to our staff teams and a new perspective to services.

“I have made some wonderful friends and learnt a lot during my time with New Highway and I intend using my training in a future job with substance misusers. I have had such a wonderful time as a volunteer and I wish you all the very best of luck and hope that New Highway goes from strength to strength.Sian Roberts Former Volunteer
