We are here to help those in the community that need us.
If you or someone you know needs our support we want to hear from you.
We are all too aware of the growing economic pressures on society and we as a leading community based charity has a clear aim to support some of the most marginalised individuals within our community.
Our opinion and all the evidence suggests that there is a serious reduction in the numbers of people with heroin and intravenous drug problems and that the services with the aim of reducing harm (needle exchange and prescriptions) are perhaps no longer the main challenges that we now face.
Although this is good news it appears that the key drugs of choice are cocaine and the vast range of legal high’s. And for us here at New Highway we also see the biggest concern being alcohol consumption, and alcohol, through a lack of national funding, is the biggest unmet need in our society today.
It’s a terrible statistic but one in six people we know is suffering from an addiction related problem.
We are seeking new and innovative ways inline with the National Treatment Agencies and Government Strategy to:
Raise Awareness + Raise Support - in order for more to be able to travel the “Road To Recovery”.
Currenlty we provide Auricular Acupuncture, an important service which is supported and funded by The Big Lottery and we orgainse SMART groups.
All our staff are experienced drug workers and we were one of, if not the first organisation to have all our staff trained in Health and Social Care NVQ Level 3.
If you or someone you know needs our support please get in touch.
If you need to speak to someone and we are closed we recommend that you contact the
UK National Drugs helpline: 0800 77 66 00
Help and advice is also available in the following languages:
We believe in recovery and we understand that this may be a long and complex journey. We work with the individual to help them make the changes in their drug and/or alcohol use they are seeking. Our ethos is to work towards the goals that best suit the individuals using the service. We encourage everyone to work towards harm minimisation or “safer” drug or alcohol use.
Local services for the Bath region will be operated from our new office in central Bath. We provide advice, support and treatment.
The city was first established as a spa resort with the Latin name, Aquae Sulis ("the waters of Sulis") by the Romans in AD 43 although verbal tradition suggests that Bath was known before then. Later, it became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian era, which led to a major expansion that left a heritage of exemplary Georgian architecture crafted from Bath Stone.
The City of Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The city has a variety of theatres, museums, and other cultural and sporting venues, which have helped to make it a major centre for tourism. The city has two universities and several schools and colleges.
